Q&A

by Nathan Hurst | THE CHURCH JUST WANTS MY MONEY

When it comes to money and the church we often hear phrases like this, ‘The Church Just Wants My Money’ and nothing could be further from the truth. The goal of the church and money should be the preaching of the gospel and your benefit, not simply for the benefit of church as an organization.

Have you ever been frustrated in giving to the church and not seeing much in return? Have you heard just one too many messages that claim you “should” give so God can finally bless you, only to feel like those “blessings” God may have forgot about? There are promises in scripture that if we give God will be gracious to us in return. So then, why isn’t your giving working?

My guess is from decades of bad teaching and assumption we confuse one type of giving with another, expecting a promise not connected to our current giving action. Scripture clearly outlines four types of giving. (Ps. not all of them are to the church and not all of them have the same promised financial return.)

Your giving will “work” in any economic climate!

As part of this series we want to best answer your questions concerning God, The Church and Money. Over the first three weeks in January we will be accepting your questions. The last weekend in January we will do our best to answer those questions according to scriptural principles.
